I'm a climbing fool.

So since Savannah has mastered the art of crawling she has decided to put her other muscles to work as well. There is never a moment where she is not trying to get up on something. Her favorite though is climbing the stairs, even though the only way she knows how to get down to to roll backwards. Here's a video to prove my point. And no you aren't gonna watch her fall down the stairs...that would be mean. This is her trying to get to a spoon she had dropped behind this box.

Father's Day

Saturday was kinda a busy day for us. Orson had a side-job he needed to do some measurements for, so we were there for like six hours. Needless to say by that time, Savannah was DONE. She was tired and wanted to go. So we came home and let her sleep. Then that evening surprised Orson and took him out to Cheddars for Dinner. Man we love that place. Orson was so excited because he has always wanted to go somewhere and order dessert first, so he did. We literally ate our meals backwards. We had a cookie monster (a big 'ole cookie on a skillet topped with ice cream, whipped cream and chocolate sauce) to begin with. I ordered the spasagna (spaghetti noodles with cheese cooked in a casserole like lasagna topped with marina sauce), which was yummy. I might try making it at home some day. Orson ordered the smokehouse burger (bacon, cheddar cheese, BBQ ranch, onion straws and your typical burger toppings), he was really excited about the onion straws. Then we ended our meal with an order of onion rings. Our waiter truly thought we were nuts when we first ordered everything. Although he said that he might try dessert first, because then you are guaranteed to get it. He said that then you would really have meal worth taking home at the end. All in all the night was great, we talked, laughed and just enjoyed our little family. When we got home we put the midget to bed and just cuddled on the couch watching movies. It was a great night and I hope that Orson enjoyed his Father's Day spoil. Here are some cute pics of Orson and Savannah at the restaurant.

I just loved all her silly little faces. She's a nut.

I love Orson's smile in this one. He's the best Daddy.

Just the two of them chillin... can you tell that she had just finished eating.

Swim Time!!!

So, since I have grown up and moved away from my mom's house, I have forgotten how much I love to swim. Even truly to just be in the water is the best. I guess growing up I just took it for granted. It was there and I was always in the pool, and that was life. Since I now no longer have that blessing I rarely go swimming, so I forget how great it is. Especially in the gosh awful hot place called Texas that I live. Anyway, we were invited to go swimming last week with my sister-in-law and her kids, and we had a great time. Although I unfortunately couldn't document it because my camera was broken and the other one I had bought for the interim was awful. Savannah did so great, she didn't even cry or fuss. She loved the water but didn't splash around much, just enjoyed the coolness. She also decided that what she really wanted to do was drink the water. She was so funny, if she couldn't get her mouth down to the water, she would put her hand in and then drink the water from her hand. Smart little girl, knows how to get what she wants.
Monday, I got a call from another friend inviting us to swim at her place, so again I packed a swim bag with all the essentials, and grabbed the new replacement camera and headed off. Savannah did even better this time. We had so much fun. We went under the water, we threw her around, and played with our friends. Luckily this new camera is awesome, I might not even return it when my old camera comes back from the shop. Anyway I got some great pics and wanted to share them. Mostly so my mom would stop crying and whining about how much she is missing. Enjoy, but beware there are quite a few images. The crazy group of our kids that we were swimming with. Flying Baby This one is My FAVORITE!!! It reminds me of the pictures my parents took of me in the pool as a baby. Thanks for the memories Mom and Dad. The Happy Mom and Baby after a few hours swimming.

You know that you love this one. I love that the camera caught me spitting water.

Logan, Savannah and I. Logan would easily take her as his sister anyday.

Isn't this little cover-up cute, plus her adorable little smile...picture perfect I tell ya.

Look at my two big chompers.

And of course Last but not least a video for you to enjoy of her second time in the pool. This was towards the end of our adventure so she wasn't as smiley in this video.

Studio Potraits

Since I missed doing her six month portraits alone, I figured that I had better get this month done before she turns 8 months. So we actually ended up doing two different sessions at two different studios. I'll post the JCPenney ones today and then I'll post the Sears ones later.

Branson Trip

So we got home from Branson a really long time ago, but I couldn't start blogging again without at least mentioning it. We had a really great time. Orson and I left Savannah with my sister-in-law here in town, and we took off. It is a ten hour drive to Branson, but we decided to break it up a bit. We left Friday morning and drove to Eureka Springs, AK. It's a cute little tourist town that I wanted to show Orson, although we didn't see much because we got there late and Sat. morning it was raining. I did take him to Christ of the Ozarks though and we got some really cool pics.

This is the view from the hill overlooking Eureka Springs.
Orson, I and the Gigantic statue of Christ. Pretty cool....I actually took that so my mom could use it in her class.

I wish we would have been able to spend more time there, but the weather didn't allow it. They have recreated the city of Jerusalem and I would have loved to have seen it. They also stage a really cool show with tons of actors and lots of animals. We shall have to do that next time though. So since our jaunt was cut short by the weather we headed to Green Forest to visit a friend of mine. We hadn't seen each other in years. It was fun to get to see her and her family and show Orson the town she lives in. I spent a month there, after 6th grade, I think.

This is Vickie, her mom, Joyce and I.

After stopping in Green Forest, we headed on to our destination... Branson, MO. While we were driving, Orson was amazed with the scenery. He had never been up that way. I swear if we would have stopped and given him the chance, he would have been looking for homes. We stayed at the Wyndham Branson at the Meadows. Personally I thought that this resort was great. The staff was amazing, the were always right there to help you. The activities were plentiful, although we mostly played shuffleboard. Which, by the way, I love! We spent most of Sunday, Mother's Day just being lazy and enjoying the rest. Monday we went to Silver Dollar City. It's an amusement park themed after the Hatfields and the McCoys. It's pretty unique because they are known for the resident artisans. You can see just about every kind of craft being made right on site. I really liked the glass blower, and Orson liked the steam run duplicating lathe, they made things like rolling pins, baseball bats, ummm, hiking sticks, noodle cutters, things like that. On Tuesday we spent the day with my in-laws. We took my mother in-law on a paddleboat cruise aboard the Showboat Branson Belle. That was a treat in itself. They had a really variety show complete with a full three course meal. The boat was gorgeous. That evening we took the padres to go see a variety show called Hamner Barber Show . We were graciously given tickets by a gentleman we met at the resort. Dave Hamner and his wife who put on an amazing magic show. I mean seriously I knew that he was going to make something disappear and then he did, and I just stared, I still don't know how they do it. His partner's name is Jim Barber and he is a really talented Ventriloquist. I mean he could sing in these other voices. He did Bring him home from Les Mis and I was astounded. Really if y'all ever go to Branson, splurge and go see the shows, they are worth every penny. Wednesday we stuck pretty close to the resort, I slept most of the day. That evening Orson and I went to go see Six perform. For those of you that grew up in CA you might know them as the Knudsen Brothers. They are a group of six brothers that perform accapella. I swear though you would think that there is a full band behind them, but they do all their own stuff, vocal percussion, vocal bass, wow is all I'm gonna say. I of course have seen them before, but I wanted Orson to experience it. He just sat there watching them. He didn't believe that there was no band until he saw them do it. I don't really remember what we did Thursday, I think more hanging out at the resort, more shuffleboard, and more relaxing. We headed for home Friday morning, stopping in Oklahoma to visit Sandy and her daughter, she used to babysit me growing up. So all in all I think the trip was splendid and I would definitely do it again.

P.S. I know that we have pics from Branson, but they were on my mother-in-laws camera, so I will have to upload those later. Sorry!
